Still Life Assignment

In this assignment I took pictures of objects in a commercial setting. I wanted to use colorful things to make the pictures more interesting. I needed to use perspective to keep the pictures from being boring. I continued to use the light editing to fit the lighting at the time.

In this assignment I learned how to pick out cool items to take pictures of. And how to create a plain background and commercial setting to showcase the object.

Puns GIMP Assignment

In this assignment we had to create visual puns using two or more pictures and combining them together. We had to use GIMP to scale all the images to the same size and put them next to each other in one document.

In this assignment I learned how difficult it is to combine pictures and make it look good. This was probably one of the harder GIMP assignments we've had so far because you have to be very creative when you think of these puns.

Motion Assignment

In this assignment I got pictures of Mitchell jumping off the walls to capture the motion. I wanted to make it look like he's frozen in mid air with his feet against the wall. I also tried blurring out the background in other pictures.

In this assignment I learned how important digital noise is. And how it can ruin a good picture. One of the first motion pictures I got was perfect because he was in mid air and he had a good face, but it was so dark that it ruined the whole picture. Now I truly know how critical the light settings are.

Architecture Assignment

In this assignment I went to downtown Ann Arbor to take pictures of fancy old fashioned architecture. I wanted to capture the interesting details on the outside of the buildings. I made sure to use perspective in these pictures so they wouldn't turn out boring

In this assignment I learned how to use perspective with buildings to make the photos look interesting. We learned about perspective earlier in one of the composition assignments, so I used that experience to make the pictures look cool. I also had to edit the settings to fit the bright afternoon sunlight.

GIMP School Assignment

In this assignment we had to take a picture of the school and put it in GIMP to edit it and add things that normally wouldn't be there, like a tornado. We had to go to Google and search for pictures to edit on another GIMP and combine the two pictures.

In assignment I learned how to combine two pictures using the eraser tool, layers, and resizing. I continued to use the crop tool and adding multiple layers. This assignment was easier than I thought it would be, it just took a lot of time to erase all the little details.

Motion Demo Assignment

In this assignment we had to capture the subject on a bicycle riding past as we blurred out the background. Then we had to upload the pictures and use GIMP to edit them. For editing we cropped it and changed the color levels.

ISO- 800
Shutter Speed- 1/60
Aperture- 2.8

In this project I learned how to blur out the background while focusing on the subject. To do that you just follow the subject as it moves with your camera. I thought this assignment was going to be harder that it actually was. After getting the actual picture the editing was easy because we've used color levels and cropping before.

Nature Assignment

In this assignment I tried to get cool pictures of nature and I showed the difference of the snowy weather outside and bright flowers inside. I used a lot of macro for the flowers. The I had to zoom in to get pictures of the trees.

In this assignment I learned how to pick out pretty things in nature no matter what season it is, but it is more difficult to take pictures in the winter because everything is so dead and bare. I continued to use macro because it makes a big difference when you do.
